A one
day training workshop was organized for selected Districts of the Volta and
Northern regions of Ghana by Friends Of
The Earth –Ghana at Afadzato South District Assembly hall yesterday 26 May
2016.
The Director for Friends of the
Earth-Ghana Dr Theo Anderson- said the main aim of the training is to build the
capacity of a community groups and community leaders to be able to engage the
District Assembly to monitor the development on going projects and also to
contribute to decision making.

The
Human Resource Manager of the Afadzato South District Assembly, Mr. Daniel
Ladzagla revealed that, the program is
very educative and very beneficial to especially our community leaders, it also servess as an eye opener to the participants to hold their duty beeriest
responsible.

There was a media
encounter during the training session where Community leaders and the District
Assembly participants have the opportunity and inform the media what their
experiences and challenges are, with respect to the provision and access to
water and sanitation in their various Districts.
Friends Of The Earth –Ghana is an NGO which is proudly supported
by the European Union (EU), who aim is to foster a good working relationship
between the District Assemblies and the local communities which they serve.
The workshop of the
organization saw a lot of dignitaries and representatives of the District Assemblies,
Assembly members, the Media, Community leaders, Unit Committee members, Chiefs,
Traditional opinion leaders and also representatives from other DA such as
Kpando, North and South Dayi.
