The DCE for Afadjato South has said members of the group calling itself the Intelligent Youth of Afadjato South (IYAS) lack the basic knowledge and understanding of issues they want to use against their political leaders.
According to Hon. Angela Alorwu Tay, the group had failed to seek audience from her for clarification of issues surrounding a rural water and sanitation project being executed by the Afadjato South District Asembly- ASDA before going ahead to release a press statement, demanding accountability and accusing her of failure.
The group in a statement Tuesday accused the DCE for her failure to see to the full implementation and execution of Water and Rural Electrification Projects for some communities within the ASDA, even though agreements had been signed in January 2015, with a USD$700,000 funding for the projects to commence.
According to the Communications Director of IYAS, Raphael Agala, who was speaking on the Kuul Morning Show Wednesday, none of the supposed beneficiary communities is enjoying any of the projects, months after the signing of the agreements for the execution of the two projects.
However, responding to the accusations also on the Kuul Morning Show today, Hon. Alorwu-Tay said IYAS would have done themselves and the people of Afadjato South a lot of good if they had sought clarification on the contractual agreement from the ASDA.
According to her, the cost of the Water project is about GHc250,000 which funds were provided by the Latter Day Saints Church of Christ and not the USD$700,000 the group wants the public to believe.
She also said the only community yet to benefit from the water project is Nyangbo Fiape.
On the Rural Electrification Project, the ASDA DCE said all beneficiary communities under the project have also been connected to the national grid and are enjoying the power from the project.
Hon. Angela Aorwu Tay therefore called on all persons or groups of persons interested in any project in the ASDA to call on the Assembly for clarification.
